I love the soft lighting on the buildings, and the font is absolutely perfect for the aesthetic. Few things to note, though: The background being blank is questionable, you create a great sense of depth, but then it just ends suddenly and leaves me unsatisfied. Second, the shadow of the boat is HUGE on that building. Using context from around the picture, it isn't clear whether this is intended or not. If it is intended, it would have really helped to add context to the scale of the boatman by throwing some birds around him and perhaps even casting their shadow onto him to show that he is indeed very large. Third, you have some nice detailed roof access toward the bottom of the drawing, but almost like you lost your will halfway through, you decided to just slap a staircase on every other building and call it a day. This lack of consistency leaves me feeling confused. For all that I still love it, and I like when artists take risks with color and try something unconventional. Nice work.

ArindamDhar responds:

Thank you so much for all the valuable advice. It's true that I lost enthusiasm halfway, because I got very tired of working with the pen tool. It's still no excuse, I know. I'll do better next time.

Thanks again for taking your time and analysing this piece for me. Really appreciate it.

I like it, but the background is worse than if you just left it blank. You drew all the blocks and characters in perspective, but then the clouds are flat which leaves it looking inconsistent. Having clouds that follow the same perspective as everything else would add value instead of take value away.

FuShark responds:

Thanks Lucky, I appreciate the feedback. I'm actually not too happy with how this piece turned out so it's nice to hear your opinion on what could be better.

My favorite part is the stairs, it takes some balls to go that unnecessarily hard on the perspective.

AlvinHew responds:

Hahaha, the stairs are clearly the real MVP here!

Another hit!

wooooo!

The way you draw arms is so sexy.

Rooshie responds:

lmao my fave thing to draw

Now THAT is unique. This clearly took some inspiration and thought. The only thing that would make this better is if the cat's eyes were moving side to side like a wall clock.

OrangeWedge responds:

I tried animating the cat's face, but the design became too "busy".

You're too good at this. I really like the head on the right, and how many curves are in the upper jaw. Have you considered animation? Or are you just focused on concept work/character design?

Smashega responds:

Thank you!! I do animate but not often.

Very visually engaging. I don't like how the buildings are almost falling over in the background. I know it's to show that they're ruins, but there are more realistic ways of showing age like exposed rebar and truncated structure. Other than that I really enjoyed this piece.

Manguinha responds:

Thanks ♥♥♥

Not bad, but -1/2 star because of the low quality when zoomed in. It looks like you drew a small base and then expanded it. There's nothing wrong with doing that, but I expect it to look good at maximum resolution. It would have been better if you didn't expand it so much in my opinion.

If you're a fan of your own work, then you'll be fine ~ Start small. If you can't, then start smaller ~ If you don't love what you put out, don't expect anyone else to
