This is the biggest canvas you've used yet, it's a sign of improvement. Not to mention you took on that sexy long hair.

Cairos responds:

Biggest canvas? Mmn, not exactly. The original size is much much larger. As for the hair I'm just glad I didn't have it billowing in the wind like usual.

From conception to completion, how long does something like this take?

P-cate responds:

Like an hour and a half or two aprox. Maybe three?

DUUUDE, you should just keep doing animals. I don't think you could ever go wrong with them. The only other good animal artist on NG I know of is AntiDarkHeart. She's worth checking out if you want to go that route.

TheLoyalMeat responds:

Thank you man, appreciate the kind words :). I've just checked out AntiDarkHeart, she's got some fantastic work, just seen her dog drawing..breathtaking

Why do you need help? Are you going to do something with her or is this just practice?

Taffytoad responds:

I needed help naming her but I think I've decided to name her fuschia. And I hope I get the opertunity to use her design in the future.

There's one thing that brings down the whole picture and that's how far her face comes out depth-wise. It makes her look like an android with a detachable faceplate. Other than that it's nice.

Pelboy responds:

The depth of the face is actually intentional to highlight her invasive gaze. It makes us question ourselves on a similar level. Are any of us truly human?

Only joking, I made myself ill writing that ha :) thanks for the feedback! I'll do a pass over with what you mentioned and post the results, cheers!

Great work as usual.
I only wonder... how would this character look if you interpreted him as a girl? :)

nitrile responds:

i dunno, he's fine the way he is now.

Oh my...
you brilliant psycho.

P-cate responds:

HAHAHAHA

I like the art, the edgy flavor text just killed it for me. As a principle, I don't have respect for people who value their message to the point where they will compromise the purity of their art by reiterating it in a different medium. The whole idea of doing that is just repulsive to me.

Fifty-50 responds:

Yeah I understand where you're coming from, since it seems to be over compensating for the already dark tone of the painting itself. I think it all boils down to preference, but I can respect your perspective on the matter since it's actually a valid point of discussion.

I myself just wanted to have a kind of basis for interpretation for the viewer if they ever decide to assign meanings to the symbolism in the painting, although I can also see the disadvantages of doing so as it limits the capacity of the viewer to form a variety of colorful interpretations.

I have to thank you for your input as it made me come to a realization that I wouldn't have deigned to notice otherwise. Although to be perfectly honest I don't really value the idea of art itself as I'd rather know the reason for its creation and the messages that are behind it. To me, art for art sake is simply not engaging as a work without a soul is only a dead display of skill. But that's only my opinion.

You know, pretentious art school reasons. haha

I wonder how much time it would take to animate this with a little breeze. Good god, looking at this gives me a happy feeling I can't describe. To you it might be nothing special but it's somehow therapeutic for me.

Carrion responds:

I'm so glad you like it. n,n

I love this, you lost half a star because of the roughness in some places, but I could see this being in an art museum. It's funny because this is the first time you uploaded something where the pattern filled the whole canvas and it got frontpaged. Maybe someone's trying to tell you something.

I think the discoloration was a happy accident, it breaks things up and gives you something to consider. I would love a 1920x1080 wallpaper similar to this.

Eagleon responds:

Yeah, I know what you mean, there's places where life got kind of fucked up and I beat the shit out of the paper. Top right in particular was a fight with my dad. It was also really difficult to get enough lighting, I started in November when it still felt like summer basically, clear skies for weeks at a time, then sudden bleh. This is a mandala, basically, done a section at a time each day the sky was clear.

I've wanted to fill things out like this for a while, but it's taken this long to work on my sense for value for it to make sense. Working on figure drawing next, just trying to diversify the textures and living forms I can achieve - I want these to breathe when you look at them :3 And yeah, the only worry is that the discoloration is from the paper itself and not my clumsiness. The latter I can work with, but it'd suck never being able to use a tortillon for this.

Thank you for the comments. I'll try to get some wider stock, or maybe trim down a page to work as a wallpaper - it's been in my head too.

If you're a fan of your own work, then you'll be fine ~ Start small. If you can't, then start smaller ~ If you don't love what you put out, don't expect anyone else to
