I accidentally re-binded all my controls to up and now I can't get past the first screen. Restarting browser doesn't reset controls and I don't feel like clearing my cache. It's pretty bad when I can find a game-breaking bug in the first 2 minutes of playing.

squidly responds:

There's actually a fix for that which I anticipated. On the controls screen, hold F and press J!

Note: This clears all your progress as well.

Extremely enjoyable. I loved the sound design as well as the simplicity of the gameplay and aesthetic.

MouseCity responds:

Thanks! If you download app you would have 3 more free levels to enjoy!

I'm a big fan of story telling in this format, you kept my attention the whole way through. And the hints for when you get stuck on a level are brilliant. It saved me a headache on the level where you have to put the circle on the square to reach the exit. The physics where fluid and just fun to play around with, and the music was perfect for the atmosphere, very chill and relaxing. Great work to everybody!

Did you know runners are my favorite genre of game? But there are so few good ones. The most problematic thing I find about most of them is that you can't see what terrain is coming ahead, and that usually leads to you making a leap of faith at some point and instantly dying. Thankfully the difficulty in this game isn't the terrain, and there's no bogus dash mechanic like Robot Unicorn Attack or Animal Dash (which ruins your positioning).

I like that you can see the enemies well ahead of time, and plan how to take them out from far away. The physics feel very natural, and that's apparently an achievement in this day and age. I probably sound salty but it's only because I have to sift through tons of sub-par content to find a gem like this. Music is on point, and so is the art. Congratulations to all three of you!

Miroko responds:

No I did not know that but I'm really happy that you're happy with this game. We played a couple of runners and we tried to only borrow the fun stuff and try avoid anything else that is not that fun. I honestly think if we had more time this game would've sucked balls, sometimes we're just lucky I guess. Thank you for the thoughtful review it really made our day, it's a delight to hear someone appreciate this game on such level. Thank you!

Very fun game, you created just the right atmosphere to hold my attention till the end. Very polished and great presentation. Just next time let me hold the mouse button to move, yeah?

OVERBOY responds:

Good idea !

"Actually, it links to the artists pages, allowing people if they are interested, in learning about an animator/character they might not know alot about."

The problem is it doesn't say that in the title or the "game", so you see how it can be misleading. You literally just described an ad. An ad for people everyone already knows, and whose pages someone might not want to visit. Good-natured or not, I can't support this. The 1 star is for the art.

Template88 responds:

I would love to put this in the art portal designated as an interactive art gallery, but I cant. I'm forced to put this in game portal, because thats how newgrounds is set up to work right now. It's really cool that you don't support this and think it's worth 1 star though. Guess as an ad it was effective at least. If you read the description it's actually describing what the work is for though, not everyone knows about all these characters or these artists. Rather than have this actually do nothing, why not link to their pages?

Cute game. The way I died though made me feel like I saw it coming a mile away and couldn't do anything to stop it. The second floor boss took me to 4 hp and I only needed 1 more fight to level up and fully heal... but I used all my scrolls on the boss, had no way to heal, and as far as I can tell defending only lasts 1 turn so it wasn't going to help me. Kind of a cruel way to go.

PestoForce responds:

It can get pretty brutal!

So fantastic, reminds me of the browser games I played as a kid but scaled to match my more discerning adult tastes. I just love love love games with funny creative writing. I would love to work on this if I had any pixel art skills, but I'm looking forward to the full release.

TwinBlazar responds:

Thank you ^_^

This game and thousands of others use "love" as some kind of plot point and unlike super meat boy there's not even a clever analog here where the two characters have some kind of relationship beyond being love interests. It's lazy writing and it's got to stop. I don't care about whoever she is so stop acting like I need a reason to run around and throw crates, it's insulting on an intellectual level.

Now that that ugliness is out of the way, the game ran, looks, sounds, and controls fine but one little detail that you forgot to put in the tutorial is that throwing crates at enemies is the CORE gameplay. You tell me how to do it... sure. But you never say why I need to do it. I didn't make the connection between throwing crates and healing at first, so I thought if I could just jump my way through this game then why not? Died my first time, and noticed that my field of vision got smaller the more damage I took. Little did I know that it got smaller over time regardless making it harder to see and that's why I was taking damage.

So I thought "well I just have to take less damage" tried again without throwing crates, same result... but I noticed that my health was going down on it's own. Then after receiving no help from the game I FINALLY decided to look down in the description so see what the fuck was going on. That's where I learned about the health restoration mechanic. Tried again and beat the game easily, but I walked away feeling conned. Like if I just knew how to play from the beginning I wouldn't have wasted so much time.

Use this my friend... USE IT TO GROW!

Zielak responds:

Constructive criticism is always welcome. Noted everything.

Thank you very much for the review, I'll surely use it to grow :)

If you're a fan of your own work, then you'll be fine ~ Start small. If you can't, then start smaller ~ If you don't love what you put out, don't expect anyone else to
